A vision uniting net zero goals with transparency and social purpose
Showing how Crocs could make everyone a little more comfortable with the footprint of their shoes
Challenge
As makers of plastic shoes (brilliant, but still plastic!) Crocs wanted to develop a vision and strategy for sustainability that set out how they were going to deal with both carbon emissions and circularity whilst also underlining the social purpose their shoes could serve.
Solution
We partnered with them in developing a central sustainability concept that built on their core brand proposition of ‘everyone being comfortable in their own shoes’ by making sustainability about creating ‘a more comfortable world for all’.
The strategy was centred on a net zero by 2040 commitment realised through a bold plan to cut the carbon footprint of their iconic clog by 50% by 2030. This last initiative is supported by clear communication of the KG of carbon in every pair – a simple but inspiring indicator anyone can grasp.
The strategy also leant into social purpose with a range of programs stretching from youth skills to shoe donation.
Impact
Crocs have now made one of their climate targets super simple to understand – one product, one footprint, one number.
